Librarian Assistant:

The school library is the "Lifetime Skills Learning Center" where students learn to be effective information users and knowledge navigators. We explore, investigate, experiment, and create using the raw materials of fact and fiction to increase our understanding of the world we live in. We try out new possibilities for the future while developing our problem-solving skills today.

Who We Are

We love books and use technology to explore our world. We always ask, "Why?" because we are curious, creative, and critical thinkers. The library is an exciting place to learn!

7:30AM - 2:45PM

Students may return books and borrow more before school. In the afternoon a parent or guardian must accompany students to the library. This ensures that students have a safe trip home.
After school borrowing is available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (Teachers have meetings on Wed.).

*Books are on loan for 10 days. Students must return any overdue books before borrowing new books.

*Parents may obtain library numbers and borrow up to five books at a time. This is one stop shopping at its best! Stop by, parents, before or after school and check out books for reading aloud!

Nene Program for Grade 4-6 Students

Click on the Nene recommended list to see the 30 titles suggested for Nene reading. 4th, 5th and 6th grade students who read many books from this list will be eligible to vote in February for their favorite book and many students will be invited to attend the Nene Award ceremony in the Spring where a winning author will be the guest speaker! This is a Hawaii state wide promotion! Fun!

Books are PRECIOUS!

Please help your student(s) to take special care of his/her borrowed books. Keep them in a special place. Backpack is best, and away from babies, pets, and food. Fines will be sent home if books are damaged.

About the TumbleBook Library

The TumbleBook Library is a collection of TumbleBooks (animated, talking picture books) TumblePuzzles, TumbleQuizzes and TumbleResources for Teachers. TumbleBooks are created from existing picture books which we have licensed from children's book publishers and converted to the TumbleBook format.

Navigating the Site:
You may want to first explore the site and check out all the books, games and features. Our catalogue has book descriptions, book reviews, and author/illustrator/publisher information. You can view a tumblebook by clicking on the SView On-line button. There are a number ways you can access a book:

1. Index page lists all the tumblebooks and tumblegames. Click on the hyperlink and it will take you right to that tumblwebook.
2. Scroll through the collection in any of the sections to read the descriptions and view the reading levels.

Once you have familiarized yourself with the collection however, the fastest and easiest way to get to your favorite books is by adding your class favorites to the My Favorites section. Add and delete the titles you want easy access to.

Automatic/Manual Button: TumbleBooks are designed to be experienced in either automatic or manual mode. In automatic mode the pages turn by themselves and are narrated while in manual, the narration is turned off and children turn the pages and their own speed.

The Pause Button: Both the student and teacher can use the pause button to stop the story at any time in order to practice story prediction, interpret pictures, discuss new vocabulary words, empathize with a character, discuss possible consequences of actions, encourage problem solving, or provide historical, geographical, or other perspective.

TumblePad Word Helper. This new feature allows you to click on a book to hear a sentence repeated or click on a vocabulary word in order to hear it sounded out.
Reading Levels: Each title has recommended reading levels for both automatic and manual modes. Click on the reading level to see other books at the same level.

Each title has an acompanying TumbleQuiz: a fun, flash animated, multiple choice quiz that each student can take right online after reading a book in order to test reading comprehension.

TumbleGames: The TumblePuzzles and memory TumbleGames are great educational games to play after reading a book.

Language Learning: Our Language Learning section has a growing collection of books in Spanish and French.

Life Learning: We are especially proud of our Life Learning section. You'll discover important books about volunteering, tolerance and other life lessons.

En Espanol: Our drop down menu on the top right hand corner of the site allows you to view the entire site in Spanish!
